Dr Constable has worked at Southwark since 2006 and was previously Senior Historic Buildings Officer, West Yorkshire Archaeology Advisory Service. He provides archaeological advice to Southwark Council, applicants and archaeologists and prepares conservation area assessments, is an officer for listed building applications and contributes to planning policies. He has expert knowledge of the archaeology and built heritage of Southwark and its context within London. His curatorial responsibility includes major projects such as developments at London Bridge Station. He actively promotes Southwark’s heritage, lecturing regularly and contributing to improved public interpretation of monuments such as Bermondsey Abbey and Winchester Palace. He is affiliated to London archaeological societies, a Member of the IfA and a Southwark Council representative on SLAEC, a local archaeological charity. Dr Constable’s research interests include the interpretation of medieval and post-medieval buildings.
