Grounds for election

Glyn Davies has made a significant contribution to medieval and renaissance studies through publication, the planning of permanent galleries at the V&A and through temporary exhibitions. He was one of the core curatorial team which planned and delivered the new Medieval & Renaissance Galleries at the V&A in 2009 and co-wrote the accompanying publication 'Medieval and Renaissance Art: People and Possessions' (2009). He also co-curated the exhibition 'Depth of Field: the place of relief in the time of Donatello' (Leeds, 2004) and is now working on an exhibition of Opus Anglicanum, to be held at the V&A in 2016-17. He has lectured and published widely on medieval works of art, especially on ivory carvings and metalwork, in The Burlington Magazine, The Sculpture Journal, Apollo and elsewhere, and co-authored (with Paul Williamson) the new two-volume V&A catalogue 'Medieval Ivory Carvings 1200-1550' (2014).
