Richard Peats has been in architectural conservation for twenty years, most of these with English Heritage or, now, Historic England. He was employed before this by the National Trust to study vernacular buildings, and by Drury Mcpherson, one of the best-known practices in the field of historic buildings advice (which resulted in an article on Forty Hall, Enfield, in Architectural History). During his years as an Inspector, and now Team Leader, in the South East and London, Richard has gained wide knowledge of the history and current prospects of many building types. He has made a particular study of the churches of George Edmund Street in the Diocese of Oxon where Street was Diocesan Architect, both as to their design and their present state. He has appeared as an expert witness at Consistory Court on Street's furnishings.
