Grounds for election

Interests, for many years, include surviving buildings of late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages, notably English and French domestic buildings. Restoration of his own property includes the former 15th c. abbot's lodging, two 13th/14th c. aisled halls, a large chapel and gated entrance. Leads a small group of specialists, organising field seminars, annually, in different regions of England and Wales. Member of the Vernacular Architecture Group. Much involved in relevant French learned societies and specialist groups.
