Grounds for election

Erin L. Thompson holds a PhD in Art History from Columbia University, where she focused on Greek, Roman, and Ancient Near Eastern art history, as well as a JD from Columbia Law School. She is currently a full professor at the City University of New York, where she studies the damage done to cultural heritage and communities through looting, theft, and deliberate destruction of antiquities and sacred artwork. Her first book was Possession: The Curious History of Private Collectors (Yale University Press 2016). She has published scholarly articles as well as general audience pieces about these issues, including in the London Review of Books and New York Times.
