Grounds for election

James is Senior Archaeologist at Cornwall Archaeological Unit. Working in commercial archaeology since 1987, he started at Oxford Archaeology, University of Leicester Archaeological Services, then MoLA, joining CAU in 1999. James specialises in later prehistoric settlement and ritual in Cornwall, actively publishing and co-authoring in this area, including thematic contributions to BAR volumes. In 2014 he co-directed the Carwynnen Quoit project, winning the Marsh Award for Community Archaeology and was Highly Commended as a Community Archaeologist by the CBA. Recently James has turned his attention to early medieval sites, directing the rescue excavation and scientific dating project at St Levan’s Chapel, the re-discovery of St Piran’s Oratory and co-directing the Tintagel Castle Archaeological Research Project. He is chair of Meneage Archaeology Group, an active member of Cornwall Archaeological Society, and part of a team re-launching the Young Archaeologists Club in Cornwall.
