Grounds for election

Josephine Hoegaerts is Professor of European Culture after 1800 at the University of Amsterdam, specialising in diversity, identity and political culture. Situated in historical research, Prof Hoegaerts has worked with archives in the UK, France and Belgium. She is particularly interested in the concept of sound as an artefact, and from 2018-2023 led the ERC project "CALLIOPE: Vocal Articulations of Parliamentary Identity and Empire". She has held fellowships across the world, including at the Universities of Pennsylvania, Cambridge, and Helsinki. Sample publications: (2021). Voices that Matter?
