Jane joined the Courtauld Institute as Senior Lecturer in the Conservation of Wall Painting in April 2022. She is a specialist in the art history and conservation of mural paintings, and is a former wall paintings conservation, medieval art history MA and PhD student of the Courtauld. She has worked as a freelance wall paintings conservator in the UK and abroad, and in the technical analysis of a variety of artworks. Jane is a former conservation advisor for works of art at the Council for the Care of Churches at the Church of England. From 2003 - 2017, she was employed by Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) as a Historic Buildings Curator at the Tower of London. Activities included researching, commissioning, and advising on the archaeology of major projects, highlights being the conservation of the 11th century White Tower building fabric, and the 13th – 19th century north curtain wall and mural towers.
