Grounds for election
Richard Gaunt has been an academic historian for over 20 years, working at the University of Nottingham since 2000. He is currently Associate Professor in History, and researches widely on British politics, culture and society in the late-eighteenth and early-nineteenth century.
Richard was elected FRHistS in 2004 and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2007. Since 2013, he has been the co-editor of the leading peer-reviewed journal Parliamentary History, which publishes articles and critical editions of texts on the political, electoral and architectural history of the parliaments of the United Kingdom and its constituent assemblies.
Richard’s wide-ranging publications include a three volume edition of the 4th Duke of Newcastle’s diaries. Richard has published widely, including work on Emma Wilmot, a hitherto unknown Nottinghamshire artist of the 1840s, the development of the Dukeries landscapes, and the role of visual satire in the 19th century.
