Grounds for election

Dr Neville has taught at Royal Holloway, University of London since 1997. Her first book, Representations of the Natural World in Old English Poetry (1999) is foundational work in eco-criticism of early medieval literature. An expert in early medieval Riddles, she co-edited Riddles at Work in the Early Medieval Tradition: Words, Ideas, Interactions (2020). She is a co-investigator on the AHRC-funded project, ‘Group Identity and the Early Medieval Riddle Tradition’, which, as well as three forthcoming articles about the neglected Anglo-Latin riddler, Boniface and two online seminar series, has led to an Escape Game entitled ‘RiddleQuest’, based at National Trust Sutton Hoo. Her next monograph, Truth is Trickiest: Heroic Tropes in the Exeter Book Riddles, is in press. She has also promoted the study of Early Medieval culture through numerous shorter publications and through active membership of Teachers of Old English in Britain and Ireland since 1995.
