Grounds for election

Simon has a PhD in Classics & Archaeology from the University of Kent, a Masters in Archaeology from UCL’s Institute of Archaeology, and a Masters in War Studies from KCL. He has published 16 books on Roman and ancient world themes, including 'Roman Britain’s Missing Legion' which was a BBC History Top 10 Book of the Year in 2021. He appears frequently on broadcast media as a presenter and expert and is a Guide Lecturer for Andante and Hidden History Tours. Simon has recently completed two terms as a Trustee of the CBA. An active archaeologist, Simon has co-Directed the Roman villa excavation at Teston and is participating in new research with Kent Archaeological Society in the hinterland of the Roman fort at Lympne. His PhD thesis was published by BAR as 'Ragstone to Riches', where he identifies the quarries that provided much of the ragstone for building Roman London. A firm believer in public outreach, he has given many talks at schools and museums, as well as to history societies.
