Dr Abigail Graham is a global leader in epigraphic training. Founder of the British School at Rome’s Postgraduate Epigraphy Course, where she is an honorary research fellow, she led epigraphy workshops for the Centre for Study of Ancient Documents collaborating with museums and heritage sites in Rome and the UK. Abigail’s efforts to extend access to archaeology include media appearances on documentaries, radio, a textbook (The Romans: (Routledge), as well as school talks and blogs. She taught archaeology at Oxford University during her D.Phil and was lecturer at the University of Warwick (2006-19), joining the Institute for Classical Studies as a Research Fellow (2019). Specialising in monumental inscriptions, she applies cognitive methodologies to explore how a broader audience experienced and engaged with public monuments. Her areas of publication include epigraphy, sensory engagement, cognition, emotion, erasures, memory, urban space, cultural syncretism, and heritage.
