Grounds for election

Tom Hockenhull specialises in numismatics. He joined the British Museum in 2007 and was appointed Curator of Modern Money in 2011 responsible for research, cataloguing and acquisitions for the post-1700 money collection. In 2015 he was awarded an Art Fund New Collecting Award for a project to acquire and research socialist material culture. In 2020 his curatorial remit was extended to include the commemorative and art medal collection AD 1400-present. In 2022 he was appointed Keeper of the Department. A member of the British Numismatic Society, he was a council member 2018–2022 and chair of its grants committee. He is also a committee member of the British Art Medal Society (since 2020). His publications include Making Change: The Decimalisation of Britain's Currency, as well as other books and articles, as well as being lead curator of several high-profile temporary exhibitions, such as I Object (with Ian Hislop).
