Grounds for election

Elizabeth Goldring is internationally known as an authority on Tudor painting; sixteenth- and seventeenth-century court culture; England and the Continental Renaissance; portraiture and biography; and the reception of Tudor art and literature from the seventeenth century onwards. She has written two monographs, on Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, and the World of Elizabethan Art (2014) – its archival research supported by this Society, 2003 -- and on the portrait miniaturist, Nicholas Hilliard (2019). She has edited many Early Modern texts, notably John Nichols's The Progresses and Public Processions of Queen Elizabeth I (five volumes; 2014), and has co-edited three interdisciplinary collections, including The Intellectual and Cultural World of the Early Modern Inns of Court (2011). She is author of over 50 articles. Broadcaster, including for Channel 5's Digging Up Britain's Past, BBC 1's Who Do You Think You Are? and Radio 3 on An Acoustic Archaeology of Elizabethan England.
