Grounds for election

Paul Roberts is a distinguished Classical Archaeologist and Museum Curator (British Museum 1994–2015; Ashmolean 2015–). He is a leading authority on Roman pottery in the Mediterranean, and has co-directed a series of fieldwork projects (including work at Matrice and Forum Novum, Vescovio) in Italy. He has curated major museum exhibitions (including 'Last Supper in Pompeii' [Oxford] and 'Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum' [British Museum]). He has published widely including journal articles, books and exhibition catalogues. In 2022 he was appointed 'Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia' by the President of the Italian Republic.
