Grounds for election
Christian Liebl after an earlier career publishing in medieval philology and lecturing on the history of English, has curated and promoted the world's oldest sound archive, based at the Academy of Sciences in Vienna, for nearly 30 years, with a distinguished record of some 50 publications in that field and lecturing widely on historical sound recordings at conference,adult education and museum level( eg Heeregeschichtliches Museum, Kunsthistorisches Museum etc). In 2013 he curated both a prize winning exhibition on national education and the Orient in 1900, at the Weltmuseum and made a major archive contribution to the 175th anniversary exhibition at the Academy. His most recent research is on the contextualising of historical sound recordings, particularly those of Emperor Franz Joseph.
