Grounds for election

Alongside his heading a dept and Chief Examining nationally for Classical civilisation at St Paul's in his teaching career (council member, the Roman Society), Simon has for 13 years been the Archivist of the school's collections, promoting in particular their WW2 role in hosting DDay planning, and assisting researchers and mounting exhibitions. He also has a wide ranging literary publishing and lecturing history, with English translations of Aristophanes,Tacitus, and Homer in progress and is editing the diaries of Cambridge academic Gorley Putt of Bletchley Park fame. He also maintains a keen interest in English diarists, giving the 2009 Pepys lecture at St Olave's Church, London and is currently researching the papers of W H Hudson, Thos Marchant, and Ronald Blythe. His 'PG Wodehouse and the Anglican church' was published in the Catholic Herald in 2022. Simon lies within the tradition of the broad ranging scholarly amateur antiquarian in his many interests in this country's past.
