Caroline trained as wall paintings conservator at the Courtauld 1985-88 and through her career has pioneered the conservation of vulnerable mural paintings in complex historic environments. She held English Heritage’s first ever wall painting conservation post and developed and delivered its first national audit, assessing and planning conservation requirements for wall paintings dating from Roman times to 20thcentury. Caroline established the wall paintings conservation programme at the Palace of Westminster, where her research interests lie. She designed and undertook the first quinquennial condition survey for Parliament’s 80 plus wall paintings. From 2010, she has been the Collections Conservation Manager for the Parliamentary Art Collection. Caroline has held ICON accreditation since 1999. She has published widely, including articles in conservation and heritage journals, a book on English Heritage’s wall paintings, and interdisciplinary studies in conservation science.
