Grounds for election

Professor Grainger has over 45 years of experience in Higher Education, her last appointment being a Dean at University of the Arts London. She is an active researcher specialising in late nineteenth and early twentieth century British architecture and has published numerous books and articles in those areas. She is the leading authority on the late Victorian domestic architect Sir Ernest George and on the architecture of UK crematoria. Her single authored publications include The Architecture of Sir Ernest George; Death Redesigned British Crematoria History, Architecture and Landscape; Designs on Death, The Architecture of Scottish Crematoria. Hilary has been national chair of the Victorian Society since 2010, Chair of the Fabric Advisory Committee of Lichfield Cathedral since 2016, Chair of the Council of the Cremation Society of Great Britain since 2018, Vice President of the International Cremation Federation, and Past President of the Association of the Study of Death and Society.
