Professor Harding is a distinguished historian of medieval and early modern London; author of The Dead and the Living in London and Paris, 1500-1670 (2002) and numerous articles on London’s built environment, population, family, health and topography; Chair of Trustees of the Historic Towns Trust; President of the London and Middlesex Archaeological Society; formerly Honorary Secretary and now an Honorary Vice-President of the Royal Historical Society; General Editor of the British Academy’s Records of Social and Economic History series; adviser at different times to English Heritage, Museum of London Archaeology, Museum of London, the British Academy Hearth Tax Project, and other bodies.
