Grounds for election

William has conducted important work on the production of art in antiquity, especially mosaics and sculptures, the methods employed in their manufacture and the relations between patron and client. He has published widely on mosaics in Britain and abroad with important papers on a Hunt mosaic from Palermo (JRA 15, 2002) and the geometric mosaic at Badminton (JRA Supp.92, 2012). He is currently Chairman of ASPROM and editor of its Journal, Mosaic. He has been Principal Investigator of a Leverhulme funded project on the production of sculpture in the Roman World. He has organised workshops on The Art of Making in Antiquity in Oxford and in London and is in the process of publishing them . He hasheld grants from Getty to put on workshops in Libya on the conservation and management of heritage and has published on wall-painting and mosaics from Euesperides (Benghazi). Will Wootton is an inspiring teacher and has done a great deal to stimulate interest in the processes of craftsmanship
