Grounds for election

Martin Allfrey has worked as a head curator for English Heritage for many years on a wide range of projects including the conservation of Brodsworth Hall, Yorkshire, after it came into state care. He is currently responsible for English Heritage collections and historic interiors in the west of England, covering properties from Cheshire to Cornwall. He has recently worked with the Centre for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures on the temporary exhibition ‘Circles of Stone: Stonehenge & Jomon Japan’ at Stonehenge. He is also working with Bournemouth University on a research project called ‘Scaling Up Human Henge’ exploring the power of ancient places to contribute to people’s mental health and well-being. Publications include Speed and Power: John Siddeley, Pioneer of the Motor Age. English Heritage Members’ Magazine March 2017 and “A place to heal: Past perceptions and new opportunities for using historic sites to change lives” in Historic landscapes and mental well-being edited
