Grounds for election

Helen Wyld is the UK’s foremost scholar on European tapestry and has published widely on the subject. Her early career included roles at the National Trust, National Portrait Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a Paul Melon Centre research fellowship as Tapestry Research Fellow with the National Trust which led to a book ‘The Art of Tapestry’ (2022). She is now Senior Curator of Historic Textiles at National Museums Scotland working on a project examining Scotland’s place in the global textile trade, and has contributed to various exhibitions and publications at NMS. She is currently a member of several relevant societies and organisations and principal adviser on tapestries to the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art and the textile vetting committee of TEFAF Maastricht, (The European Art Foundation). Helen is currently pursuing a part- time PhD at Edinburgh University on Textiles at the Court of Charles 1.
