Scott Redford is Nasser D. Khalili Chair in the Art and Archaeology of Islam at SOAS. He was Professor and founding director of the Research Centre for Anatolian Civilization in Koc University, Istanbul from 2005-2014 and was previously Associate Professor at Georgetown University, Washington DC. He is a Member of the Scientific Committee, Fondation Max van Berchem, Geneva and Chair of the Research Committee, British Institute at Ankara. A leading archaeologist and art historian of the Islamic world his research focuses on Turkey and adjacent lands and he has published four monographs including Legends of Authority: The 1215 Seljuk Inscriptions of Sinop Citadel, Turkey, (2014) as well as editing a number of volumes including Rumkale from the Medieval to the Present Day/Ortaçağ’dan Günümüze Rumkale İstanbul (2022); and Perceptions of the Past in the Turkish Republic (2010). His fieldwork includes the excavation of the Crusader and medieval levels at Kinet Huyuk in Cilicia.
