Dr Peter Ross was the Principal Librarian at Guildhall Library in the City of London from 2011 to 2023, following over a decade as senior librarian in the same institution. An authority on numerous aspects of London history, his particular research interests include Shakespeare’s First Folio, history of English cookery books from 1500, food culture in the London livery companies, and the bibliography of criminals and trials in early modern London. He has published widely, including The Curious Cookbook (British Library), and The London Rairey Shows of 1724 (London Topographical Record), and is currently preparing for publication studies on An Annotated Bibliography of Jack Sheppard (building on his doctoral thesis on Jack Sheppard in Popular Culture), and Eating out in Georgian London. He is an Arts Society accredited lecturer, and Council Member and honorary archivist of The London Topographical Society.
