Grounds for election

Dr Bishop-Wright read Classics and Ancient History at Exeter, earning a PhD with a thesis examining interactions between Meroitic Nubia and the Hellenistic-Roman world (2021). This followed travel and research in Sudan as well as time working in UK commercial archaeology. He is one of few academics to approach Meroe from a classical perspective. He has spoken internationally on topics related to Nubia and has published in peer-reviewed journals such as ‘Sudan and Nubia’ and the Journal of Glass Studies as well as contributing to books. He has also been an intern at the British School at Athens and completed a student residency at the British School at Rome He served as project curator on the British Museum’s ‘Luxury and Power’: exhibition (2023), co-authoring the accompanying book. He is currently Research Assistant on a Leverhulme-funded project reassessing the chronology of Saqqara’s Sacred Animal Necropolis and is based at Cardiff University.
