Grounds for election

Tom Leppard is a specialist in the island archaeology of the Mediterranean (fieldwork in Greece and Sardinia), the Pacific (Hawaii and Northern Marianas Islands) and the Caribbean (Montserrat). He is currently a Project Director at the International Archaeological Research Institute (IARII) in Honolulu, Hawaii, and from 2018-2023 was an Assistant Professor at Florida State University. Prior to that position he was a Renfrew Fellow at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, Cambridge University. He has published extensively on island archaeology, having co-authored several papers and most recently a book (under review) with his former teacher John Cherry, as well as several papers comparing Mediterranean and Pacific Islands’ case studies on issues such as historical ecology, complexity and mobility.
