Dr Wheeler is a distinguished historian and curator who has played a key role in the transforming of the National Trust's understanding of its collections of furniture and has disemminated the outcomes of her research through the Trust's publically accessible catalogue and through articles and other publications. Since completing her doctorate at Oxford she worked for eight years for Bonham Auctioneers, specialising in furniture. In 2015 she joined the National Trust specialist furniture cataloguing team and since 2021 she has served as the curator of furniture. Her most recent publications have been on Thomas Chippendale's workshop in Furniture History (vol. LIV, 2018) and on 'Early Elizabethan Chairs and Chests at Sizergh Castle' in Regional Furniture (vol. 32, 2018). She has a number of publications in process at present. Since 2015 she has enhanced nearly 9,000 record and has worked on such distinguished collections as Nostell Priory, Osterley, Erddig, Attingham Park and Saltram.
