Grounds for election

Ian Haywood has spent most of his career at the University of Roehampton, where he was appointed Professor of English in 2007. His research focuses on the literature, politics and visual culture of the 18th and 19th centuries. His books include The Revolution in Popular Literature (2004), Bloody Romanticism (2006), Romanticism and Caricature (2013), The Rise of Victorian Caricature (2020) and Queen Caroline and the Power of Caricature in Georgian England (2023). In 2013 he established the research network ‘Romanticism and Illustration’ (https://romanticillustrationnetwork.com). Between 2015-2019 he was President of the British Association for Romantic Studies.
