Grounds for election
Norman Doe is an internationally recognized expert in the history of canon law and its current importance and impact. His scholarship in this field includes numerous books and articles, including The Legal Framework of the Church of England (Oxford 1996), which was cited in the House of Lords case of Aston Cantlow v. Wallbank, [2004] 1 AC 546. He has organized conferences on canon law in many countries of Europe with great success and applause. Not only he is a pre-eminent academic canon lawyer, but he also applies it in practice as a judge in the Bishop of Bangor's court.
