Grounds for election

Dr Christoph Rummel is a researcher at the Römisch-Germanische Kommission of the German Archaeological Institute in Frankfurt. He has worked at Nottingham, Augsburg and Berlin (Freie Universität) Universities and the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, joining the DAI in 2019. He heads the RGKs Roman frontiers research group. He directs a landscape geophysics project in southern Scotland, looking at the frontier zone of Roman Britain, working closely with colleagues on Hadrian's Wall, and studies the river frontiers of Europe focusing on the middle Danube. He directs the RGK's project on the late Roman imperial palace at Gamzigrad in Serbia, where he currently excavates, and is a member of the steering group of the international HAEMUS network on the late Roman Balkans. He has published on the Stabian Baths in Pompeii, the Hellenistic necropolis of Shatby in Alexandria, the Danube Frontier, Roman Provincial Fleets and geophysical surveys across south-eastern Europe and in southern Scotland.
