Grounds for election

Dr Claudia Kinmonth is the leading international scholar of Irish vernacular furniture, combining expertise in furniture history, design history and furniture conservation. Her excellent scholarship has made a huge contribution to our knowledge of social and domestic life in 19th and 20th century Ireland, with three widely praised and influential sole-authored books, amongst an extensive bibliography • Irish Country Furniture and Furnishings 1700-2000 (Cork University Press, 2020). • Irish Rural Interiors in Art (New Haven: Yale University Press, 2006). • Irish Country Furniture 1700-1950 (New Haven: Yale University Press, 1993, reprinted 1995). Her PhD (1997) explored ‘Irish Vernacular Furniture 1700-1950’. University of Teesside/Buckinghamshire College, 1997. She has has an MA(RCA) Design History (Distinction): Royal College of Art/V&A Joint Course, 1988, and BTecHND (Commendation), Furniture Conservation & Restoration, London College of Furniture, 1986.
