Grounds for election

From 2008 until 2011 David Woodman was a British Academy Postdoctoral Research Fellow, after which he became a College Lecturer in History at Robinson College, Cambridge, where he remains as an Associate Professor (having also served as Admissions Tutor and Senior Tutor). He is Secretary to the British Academy Committee on Anglo-Saxon charters and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He has so far published 5 books, 3 of which are co-edited, and numerous book chapters and journal articles. Their focus is on various aspects of Anglo-Saxon and Anglo-Norman history. In October 2024 his edition of the Chronicula of John of Worcester will be published by Oxford Medieval Texts, and, probably in 2025, a biography of King Æthelstan, the first king of England, by Princeton University Press. Other forthcoming books include one on connections between England and the Continent in the tenth century, and a companion to English historical writing of the eighth to mid-twelfth centuries.
