Dr Wolf Burchard is presently Curator in the European Decorative Art and Sculpture department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where he oversaw the representation of the museum’s British Galleries, and curated 'Inspiring Walt Disney: The Animation of French Decorative Arts,' later shown in London and LA. He previously worked as Furniture Research Curator at the National Trust, and as Exhibition Curatorial Assistant at the Royal Collection, where he was prominently involved in the 'First Georgians: Art & Monarchy' exhibition in 2014. His PhD at the Courtauld Institute was published in 2016 as 'The Sovereign Artist: Charles Le Brun and the Image of Louis XIV.' In 2022 received the Sir John Soane’s Foundation Annual Award, and in 2023 was awarded the Chevalier de l’ordre des arts et des lettres by the French government. He has published and lectured widely, and has held trusteeships at the Furniture History Society, Georgian Group and Society for Court Studies.
