His research with another scholar provided the entries in the County Series guide for Devon. In 2007 David published a definitive paper on the Gould monuments at Lewtrenchard. As a result several monuments in the churchyard were rescued from oblivion. With an anniversary approaching in 2004 David wrote the booklet for the church in Crediton about St Boniface. The research entailed travelling to Germany. In 2009 David published a collection of Flemish roundels in a hotel in Exeter. After a fire in 2016 his paper was used in the work of reconstruction. Subsequently David has been researching the Victorian stained glass of Devon for a book which is nearing completion, and meanwhile David is in demand for lectures. Memberships: Monumental Brass Society, Church Monuments Society, British Society of Master Glass Painters.
