Grounds for election
Egidia Occhipinti is research fellow at the University of Palermo and has held a lectureship at the University Kore of Enna. Central to her interests are Greek history and historiography, papyrology, and epigraphy with a philological and literary slant. She has been Marie Curie-Skłodowska Fellow at the University of Oxford, and Honorary Visiting Fellow at the Universities of Leicester and Princeton. As well as many papers on Greek social history, politics, and identities, together with studies of Herodotos, Plato, Xenophon, and Plutarch, she has published three monographs: ‘The Hellenica Oxyrhynchia: New Research Perspectives’ (2016), casting new light on this 4th-century BC history through approaches such as intertextuality and narratology; a full critical edition of the same text (2022); and ‘Greekness and Otherness beyond the Stereotype’ (2023). She is an editorial board member of the journal Kokalos, and an advisory board member of Pnyx: Journal of Classical Studies.
