Grounds for election

David holds a degree in Archaeological Science and a diploma in Professional Archaeological Studies. He entered the commercial archaeology sector in 2002, specialising in excavation, survey, illustration and Computer Aided Design, then moved into aerial archaeological investigation in 2007, initially with ARS Ltd, where he focussed on upland and coastal areas in northern England. In 2010 he joined the Aerial Survey & Investigation team at English Heritage, and he is now a Senior Investigator in the successor team operating within Historic England. Here, aside from specialising in upland, marginal and military landscapes, he is responsible for leading the team’s development of digital photogrammetry and lidar, including the use of drones, and for expanding the team’s research collaborations. David is a regular tutor on aerial archaeology, and the author and co-author of numerous research reports published by Historic England, as well as earlier reports for commercial investigations.
