Grounds for election

James worked in archaeology and heritage consultancy in Bristol and London for 20 years before becoming Conservation Officer for Cheshire West & Chester Council in 2020. James has recently published papers in Post-Medieval Archaeology, Journal of Contemporary Archaeology, Internet Archaeology, Journal of Chester Archaeological Society, Performance Research Journal and the Encyclopaedia of Global Archaeology. James was elected to the Council of the Society for Post-Medieval Archaeology in 2008. From 2011 he was Assistant Editor of Post-Medieval Archaeology and, from 2018, co-editor until 2023. He is now a member of the journal’s Editorial Advisory Board. He founded the SPMA’s PhD Group in 2022. James was on the steering group of the Contemporary and Historical Archaeology in Theory group from 2008-2010 and currently sits on the Editorial Board for their monograph series. He is a member of the steering group for Chester Heritage Festival, leading on Young People & Families programming.
