Grounds for election

Dr Mark Byford is, professionally, a leading management consultant while also being academically very well known as a prominent British bibliographer, specializing in the printed books and manuscripts of early-modern England. As a collector he has put together a very large and distinguished private library of such books. What makes him such an ideal antiquary is the public-spirited manner in which he makes his collection accessible, also running regular classes in bibliography for interested students and supporting initiatives in book history. He is a trustee of long standing of the Friends of Lambeth Palace Library and is on the Council of the Church of England Record Society. He has also served on the Councils of the Bibliographical Society and the Oxford Bibliographical Society. He works in an advisory capacity for the History Faculty of the University of Oxford. In 2023 he was elected an Honorary Fellow of New College, Oxford.
