Grounds for election

Curator of archaeological collections (Midlands) for English Heritage Trust for 30 years. Publications include anthropoid lead coffins at Farleigh Hungerford Castle (2009, co-author R Hewlings), lead figurine of a sub-Saharan African from Wall (Letocetum) (2022), and research on jet and gender in late Roman Britain (2023). Research on mead production by elite communities at Tintagel, Cornwall, in post-Roman period (2017). Publications on consumption of mead and honey at Roman-period sites across England (2018; 2021). Curated recent reinterpretation project at Wroxeter, Shropshire, incorporating my research into Roman-period magic, and currently researching ritual practices in the Bushe-Fox excavations of 1912-14 at Wroxeter. Research interests include mead and honey, jet, magic in antiquity. Talks, podcasts and online articles on various subjects including Wroxeter, aspects of daily life in Roman Britain, mead, medieval women at Haughmond Abbey and medieval feasting.
