Grounds for election

Professor Iain Quinn is a distinguished musicologist and historian who has written extensively over the last twenty years on a range of subjects encompassing musical culture in Victorian Britain. His publications include studies of the works of composers such as the William Thomas Best (1826-97), John Bacchus Dykes (1823-76), and Sir John Goss (1800-80). Professor Quinn is also active in editing the choral and other works of composers of the Victorian and Edwardian eras, among them Elgar (early cantatas) and Alan Gray (organ sonatas). Iain Quinn completed his Doctorate at the University of Durham in 2013 where he was also Director of Music and Tutor at the College of St Hild and St Bede. He is currently Professor of Organ and Coordinator of Sacred Music at the College of Music, Florida State University, U.S.A. I am happy to commend Professor Quinn to my colleagues in the Society of Antiquaries as a scholar eminently qualified to be elected into a Fellowship.
