Grounds for election

Alex Barker is a museum archaeologist with a focus on documenting cultural heritage and digitizing extant collections. He is a presidential appointee to the Cultural Property Advisory Committee, an Academic Trustee of the Archaeological Institute of America, and a graduate of the Getty Museum Leadership Institute. Leadership positions include the University of Missouri Museum, the Milwaukee Public Museum, and the Dallas Museum of Natural History. He coordinated an international antiquities documentation project with the Capitoline Museum, and is a peer-elected Expert Member of the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Archaeology and Heritage Management and the Earthen Architectural Heritage ISC. He received national awards for research from the Society for American Archaeology and for service from the SAA and the American Alliance of Museums. He is past president of the Council for Museum Anthropology and the American Anthropological Association.
