Grounds for election
Spike Bucklow is Senior Research Scientist at the Hamilton Kerr Institute, Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge and is a member of the editorial board of the Journal for the Institute of Conservation. He has worked and published widely on mid- to late-medieval painted objects, including the Westminster and Thornham Parva retables, as well as paintings, polychromy and church furniture in Westminster Abbey, Exeter, Canterbury, Winchester and Chichester cathedrals. Publications include, ‘Processes and Pigment Recipes: Natural Ultramarine’, Zeitschrift für Kunsttechnologie und Konservierung 2006; ‘Authenticity and Science', in: Art, Conservation and Authenticities, 2009; 'Material Details', Art Bulletin, 2012 and, most recently, The Riddle of the Image, Reaktion Books, 2014.
