Grounds for election

Andrew Hopkins is an architectural historian and an expert on Early-Modern Italian architecture. He is an Associate Professor at the University of L’Aquila and was a Lecturer at the Glasgow School of Art (1995-2002). He was seconded as Assistant Director of the British School at Rome (1998-2002) and then appointed Editor of The Burlington Magazine (2002-03). He has been a Research Fellow at Harvard University’s Villa I Tatti, Florence (2003-04), a Paul Mellon Senior Visiting Fellow at the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC (2009), a Guest Scholar at the Getty Research Institute (2013) and an Overseas Visiting Scholar at St John’s College, Cambridge (2014). He is the author of La Città degli Seicento (with D del Pesco, Laterza, 2014), Bladassare Longhena and the Venetian Baroque (Yale UP, 2012, and Electa, 2006), Italian Architecture from Michelangelo to Borromini (Thames & Hudson, 2002) and Santa Maria della Salute: Architecture and Ceremony in Baroque Venice (Cambridge UP, 2000).
