Grounds for election

Philippe Malgouyres is a senior curator at the Musée du Louvre in Paris, and one of the world’s leading authorities on sculpture and decorative arts in the European Renaissance and Baroque. Alongside numerous articles reflecting his wide range of interests, he has published catalogues of sculpture in the Musée Calvet, Avignon (with Philippe Sénéchal), and of post-Medieval ivories in the Louvre. His new catalogue of the small but highly important collection of arms and armour in the Louvre is forthcoming. Philippe Malgouyres has also curated numerous exhibitions, among them ‘Porphyry’ at the Louvre in 2003-04, the first modern exhibition on the history and use of this remarkable stone, post-Medieval ivories from the Louvre (Dieppe 2005) and Bronzes from the Collection of Louis XIV (Kiev 2008).
