Grounds for election

Dr Luk is the Basil Gray Curator of Chinese Paintings, Prints and Central Asian Collection at the British Museum, since 2017. She has a background in museum curation, having worked as China Curator in the Asian Department at the V&A Museum (2014–2017), the Project Curator for “Ming: 50 years that changed China” exhibition at the British Museum (2013–2014), and Assistant Professor in Visual Studies, Lingnan University, Hong Kong (2010–2012). Dr Luk is one of the lead curators of the current major Silk Roads exhibition at the British Museum, and as part of this she is co-author of the impressive Silk Roads catalogue that accompanies this. She has also published numerous academic articles, and two important books, The Empress and the Heavenly Masters: A Study of the Ordination Scroll of Empress Zhang (1493), and joint editor of Ming China: Courts and Contacts, 1400–1450, which was awarded the 2017 Specialist Publication Accolade by the International Convention of Asia Scholars.
