Dr David Knight has dedicated his career to support the conservation of historic fabric and furnishings in churches. As an adviser to the Heritage Lottery Fund led on grants for historic organ restoration and was able to take this experience into his role as the Deputy Secretary to the Church Buildings Council where he has been responsible for the development of policy and advice work to support parishes and dioceses in the care and development of church buildings. Since completing his doctoral studies Dr Knight has maintained his academic work through publications relating to organ history, war memorial organs and the music and organs used at coronation services since the Restoration of the Monarchy. David is an active member of the British Institute of Organ Studies and British Organ Archive and has previously served as the Chair of the committee responsible for the Historic Organs Certificate Scheme. David has been a panel member of the Societies’ Morris Fund since September 2018.
