Grounds for election

Sue Heaser first worked as a finds assistant for MOLA and as an Archaeological Illustrator for English Heritage. She then studied jewellery making and many other craft techniques and published 17 major books on these subjects. Since 2017 she has researched early medieval beads from Britain and Europe, visiting museum storerooms and creating a photographic catalogue of thousands of beads. She has used her hot glass beadmaking skills to identify the techniques of the ancient beadmakers to show the value of categorising beads by technique and not just visual observation. She has written ten papers on the subject and given many presentations and practical demonstrations including for EXARC, the McDonald Institute, Exeter University, West Stow Museum, the AHG, and this Society. She has given many online interviews, including for the CBA and Time Team. Sue also provides voluntary consultancy for museums and archaeologists, and her book on Anglo-Saxon beads will be published in 2025. www.sueheaser.com
