Grounds for election

Prof. Richardson has published extensively on early modern English material culture and as such is concerned with the histories and extant evidence for lived experience of the past in place and locality. She is particularly interested in the cultural life of towns, especially as understood through the objects, people and ideas circulating within them and the entertainment on offer there. A great advocate for local records societies, she was for five years on the Council of the Worcestershire Historical Society, for whom she edited William Dugdale, Historian, 1605-86: His Life, His Writings and His County with Prof. Chris Dyer. Having written or edited 10 monographs and essay collections and some 40 essays and journal articles, recent publications include A Day at Home in Early Modern England, 1500-1700 (with Hamling, Yale), Ephemera (ed with Davies and Lilley, Routledge), an edition of Arden of Faversham (Bloomsbury) and the forthcoming Oxford Marlowe (gen. ed. with Rory Loughnane).
