Private scholar with active interests in agricultural and food history. Winner Sophie Coe Prize 2019 for writing on food history: 'The Sale of Produce from Non-Commercial Gardens in Late Medieval and Early Modern' England', Agricultural History Review, 66, 1 (2018). Author three books: most recent, William Ellis, Eighteenth-century farmer, journalist and entrepreneur, University of Hertfordshire Press (2022). Several author introductions to reprints. Author ten chapters in books including 'Market gardening in England and Wales', in The Agrarian History of England and Wales, v, i, ed. Joan Thirsk, C.U.P, 1985, reprinted in paperback in 1990. Over 20 articles in journals, many in Agricultural History Review and Petits Propos Culinaires, including 'Intensive rabbit production in London and nearby counties in the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth centuries' (2019).
